Nexford University Class of 2024: A Celebration of Excellence, Achievements and Global Impact in Online Learning

Nexford University (NXU), a next-generation online university shaping the future of digital education, marked a major milestone at its 2024 graduation ceremony. Held on January 25, 2025, at Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, the event was more than just a ceremony—it was a celebration of grit, ambition, and the power of skills-driven learning.

Go Out There and Change the World

In his keynote address, Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, delivered a passionate speech, challenging graduates to be forces of positive change.

“You have acquired more than anybody can acquire. If people in other countries go through the experience you pass through here, they won’t even pass. So go out there and influence change in the society that you live in.”

His words struck a chord, reminding everyone that education isn’t just about knowledge but about using it to solve real problems.

Skills Over Certificates: The Future is Now

Former Minister of Education and NXU board member, Oby Ezekwesili emphasized that the modern workplace values skills and problem-solving over degrees alone.

“Whosoever you are, we want to see an objective solution that has come from you because you got the best of skilled education. That’s what we pride ourselves on. This is skilled education that you’ve achieved, and it’s the 21st century skilled education…solve a problem and let your name be attached to that solution. It will be important. The fact is that when you go before board rooms these days, people don’t care about the certificates you’ve brought. They care about the complex situations that you can fix”, she charged.

It was a clarion call for graduates to not just hold their degrees proudly, but to wield them as tools for innovation and transformation.

Celebrating Academic Excellence

Among the standout moments of the event was the recognition of Mr. Oluwasegun Anuoluwapo Ogundiran, who emerged as Valedictorian of the Year with an exceptional 4.0 CGPA. His achievement was undeniable proof of the high standards Nexford sets and the dedication of its learners.

Nexford’s Commitment to Global Impact

NXU’s CEO, Fadl Al Tarzi, applauded the graduates for their determination and drive, highlighting how Nexford equips learners with real-world skills that make them globally competitive.

“We are really proud of our Nigerian students. Nexford will continue to help Nigerian students bridge the skill gap to be able to fit into the real-world job marketplace globally”, he stated.

The Class of 2024: More Than Just Numbers

According to Country Director, Oghogho Inneh, this year’s graduates came from diverse programs, including BBA, MBA, MSDT, MSDA, and MSE, with the MBA program leading the pack with 1,606 graduates.

But beyond the statistics, the Class of 2024 represents something bigger—a generation of entrepreneurs, tech innovators, professionals and business leaders who are already solving real-world challenges.

And as they step into their next chapter, one thing is certain: the world is watching, and they are ready to make their mark!
